Next Steps for Sound Stage Project Proposal

for former Rising Ground Campus Along Valentine Lane

The Planning Board disregarded our letter of concerns, decided not to require a more in-depth environmental impact review, and recommended the City Council adopt the proposed change to the MG zone as follows:

A General Ordinance amending Chapter 43 of the Code of the City of Yonkers known as the Zoning Ordinance and zoning map of the City of Yonkers to add a new "Planned Film & Educational Development Use" as a Special Use Permit to Section 43-74 thereof the MG District as described and defined in Section 43-74 thereof. 

While disappointing, we have other opportunities to effect changes in this proposal.  On Tuesday, January 14, a LPRA Board Member spoke about our concerns before the Real Estate Committee Meeting. As a result, this matter will be kept in the Real Estate Committee pending Public Hearing to be scheduled for January 28, 2025 at 6:15pm. Please attend this hearing and be prepared to speak about your concerns.

Current View and Proposed Construction at Hawthorne & Valentine Lane

A similar project is under construction at Lions Gate Production Stages, 1050 North Broadway at Odell Ave E, north of St. John's Hospital.
