I am pleased to report that at last week's Rules Committee Meeting, our City Councilman, Wilson Terrero, secured agreement from the other committee members to put our Ludlow Park Dog Park Resolution on the City Council Agenda.
So, this Tuesday, October 25th, 2011, at 8:00 PM the City Council itself will meet to vote (and hopefully pass) the Resolution which is #10 on the agenda (pages 24 and 25 of the attached Council Agenda). I have been told that there may be local TV crews requesting interviews, so I encourage all who can come to do so! If the resolution passes, the City will be required to pursue negotiations with the NY State for use of the land, and, once a permit is obtained, to work with us to build the park without delay.
The City Council meeting is held in City Hall up on the hill off Getty Square. For some of us (like me, for example) this may be the first time to watch and experience the wheels of government slowly turning for the benefit of its citizens and to personally thank those elected officials -- especially Wilson Terrero -- who are do everything they can to make it happen.
If you need a ride to and from the meeting, call me on my cell phone to make arrangements. Can't get there by 8:00 PM? That's okay. You may miss some interviews and other "drama," but the vote on our Resolution won't be until the latter part of the meeting. If you get there at the beginning, you can watch how issues relating to the Ridge Hill Development and, closer to home, the South Broadway Redevelopment zone are being handled.
Joyfully,
Kathe Hertzberg
