I am interested in forming a hiking club among residents in this neighborhood. I have been a hiker for some forty years in the Hudson Highlands, Fahnestock Park in the Taconics and Harriman State Park in Rockland and Orange Counties. There are many, many trails in these parks, most maintained by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference of which I have been a member for many years. Some of trails I have scouted lead to lakes where swimming is possible and others lead to spectacular views of the Hudson River Valley. I am interested in organizing hikes with small parties, no more than 7 or 8 people and will select walks depending upon the age of the participants, young and elderly. In my experience, walking these many varied trails over the years, with blueberries and mountain laurel. red tailed hawks and grouse as well as the remains of estates long relegated to oblivion by assumption of Park Control has been a quiet remove from the chaos of everyday life, especially for me when I was a young parent. There are wonderful walks in these parks and I will lead at a pace of the slowest participant. If you are interested please email me at eldaveed@verizon.net or call 914-965-8825 or post on this website.
