This project which will convey 1 MW of hydro-electric power from Canada to NYC and Westchester has received a final U.S. Department of Energy Impact Statement which recommends Presidential approval of the project. A converter substation had been considered for construction in Yonkers, one at the Glenwood Power Station and, an alternative, at Wells Avenue in downtown Yonkers. The Glenwood site was dismissed from consideration because the space available was insufficient. The Wells Avenue site was also dismissed from consideration for unidentified reasons by the New York Public Service Commission. The converter site selected is in Astoria, Queens.
