Speed bumps or stop signs on Belevedere Drive/Hawt...

The following is an email message sent to Corazon Pineda regarding a safety concern in the neighborhood. I have, as yet, received no response from Ms. Pineda despite a second message asking for an acknowledgement.

Dear Councilwoman Pineda,

I am a 15 year resident of 431 Hawthorne Avenue in Yonkers, near the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and Belvedere Drive. During my residence here there have been five auto accidents at this intersection, with the fifth occurring this morning. Car traveling West on Belvedere have very limited visibility of cars traveling north on Hawthorne, as Hawthorne curves East south of this intersection. Although the city did restrict parking near this intersection to improve sight lines, cars often travel at more than thirty miles per hour along Hawthorne, leaving very little time to judge if crossing on Belvedere is safe. While there are stop signs on Belvedere there are none on Hawthorne, Either placement of stop signs or speed bumps for both north and south bound traffic on Hawthorne be a great help in eliminating collisions at this corner.

After meeting with Ms. Pineda at the Chema center presentations last week,
I received an email confirmation of a traffic department work order for evaluation of,
safety at this intersection.
